2025 Challenge: 6 Startups in 12 Months

Build in Public Indie Hacking Projects

My ambitious plan to build 6 focused projects in 2025 while balancing full-time work and family life.

2025 Projects

Building multiple projects in public has always fascinated me. From Pieter Levels' "12 startups in 12 months" to the countless indie hackers sharing their journeys, there's something powerful about building in the open.

But here's the thing - most of these stories come from full-time makers. What about those of us juggling a full-time job, family life (hello, toddler!), and the dream of building something meaningful?

That's what 2025 is going to be about for me. Not 12 startups in 12 months, but 6 focused projects across the year, built in two-month sprints whilst balancing real life.

The Projects

January-February: AI Call Assistant + Validus Studio Launch
First up is an exciting collaboration - an AI call assistant for service businesses, developed alongside a successful entrepreneur from Reddit. Meanwhile, I'll be officially launching Validus Studio, my validation and UX optimization consultancy.

March-April: AI Improvements + Tucka eBook
Building on the AI assistant's MVP, we'll focus on improvements whilst creating a valuable resource for parents - an eBook under the Tucka brand focusing on common challenges like vegetable intake and baby-led weaning.

May-June: D'Yew Product Launch
Time to get physical! After months of testing formulations and working with manufacturers, we'll be launching D'Yew, an Australian-made natural men's grooming line. Think Dr. Squatch, but with Aussie attitude.

July-August: Tucka App Development
Taking learnings from our eBook, we'll build the Tucka app MVP, focusing on making meal planning easier for time-poor parents. The goal? Turn common parent frustrations into straightforward solutions.

September-October: IndieMaker DB
A tool close to my heart - transforming my personal spreadsheet of startup ideas and evaluations into a proper tool for indie makers. Built by a maker, for makers.

November-December: Tastig Strategy
Closing the year by revisiting Tastig, our educational nature-themed clothing line, with a focus on Australian manufacturing solutions.

Why This Approach?

  1. Realistic Pacing: Two-month sprints allow for focused development while maintaining quality

  2. Portfolio Building: Each project strengthens different skills - from AI to physical products

  3. Risk Management: Mix of digital and physical products spreads risk

  4. Continuous Learning: Each project informs and improves the others

Building in Public

I'll be documenting everything here weekly - the wins, the failures, the late-night coding sessions, and the "why did I think this was a good idea?" moments. Expect:

  • Technical deep-dives

  • Behind-the-scenes looks at product development

  • Real numbers and metrics

  • Honest reflections on balancing it all

The Reality Check

Let's be honest - this is ambitious. Some projects might fail. Others might pivot dramatically. That's okay. The goal isn't perfection; it's progress and learning in public.

Are you building something while juggling a full-time job and life? How do you manage it all? Let me know in the comments - I'd love to learn from your experience.

This is day 1 of building in public. Follow along as we turn these plans into reality.
